Malta 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner

Bailliage of Malta
Valletta, December 4, 2021

Honouring Saint Nicholas and 40 years of the Chaîne
" The menu was created by Executive Chef Daniel Debattista "

The dinner was held in the Maryanski Porch Room at The Phoenicia Malta. Named after a famous Russian artist who was commissioned by the Phoenicia to produce the numerous paintings around the four walls.

A dual event to honour of our patron saint, St Nicholas and commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Chaîne in Malta. St Nicholas, a fourth century Bishop, was declared the Chaîne’s patron saint by the founder Louis IX.

Present were members who had joined the Bailliage in its formative years, namely Grand Officier Janatha Stubbs, Chargé de Presse Honoraire Jost Merten, Conseiller Culinaire Marc Besancon and Chargé de Missions Bernd Ritschel.

At the commencement of his pre-dinner speech Chancelier Charles Gatt welcomed members and their guests to this final event of 2021.

Charles next referred to the appointment, confirmed at the International AGM in Lyon, of Bailli Délégué Dr Joseph Xuereb to be a Member of the Conseil Magistral. An honour both for him and for a small nation like Malta. International Vice-President Marie Jones had personally informed Dr Xuereb that he had been unanimously voted in.

Finally, Charles wished all members, their guests and families a very Happy Christmas.

The menu was created by Executive Chef Daniel Debattista. Wines were supplied by Atelier Michael Tabone. These were paired with the courses by Michael in conjunction with Conseiller Gastronomique Albert Cilia-Vincenti.
