For this year’s World Chaîne Day, the Bailliage of Oulu organised a wonderful winter Chapitre including dancing to a big band.

The host establishment was the Nordic ‘Art Hotel’ Lasaretti which proudly declares itself “a venue for the best moments”. And so it was! Members and their guests could share the values of the Chaîne in general, as well as extra special World Chaîne Day fun and friendship - best moments indeed.

The Lasaretti is known for being an oasis of peace amid the most beautiful part of Oulu where guests can spend unforgettable moments in the unique surroundings of Lasaretinsaari Island. The ‘Art Hotel’ classification comes from the fact that Lasaretti’s meeting venues, restaurant, hotel rooms and courtyard area display a broad collection of visual art and sculptures. The common element of the collection is artists with northern Finnish roots.

Chargé de Missions Tomi Lantto presided over the Induction Ceremony in his capacity as a Member of the Conseil Magistral. He was assisted by Kari Liukkunen, Bailli of Oulu.

The five-course Gala dinner featured local northern Finnish delicacies prepared and served with great professionalism. For example, the menu included charred whitefish, malt bread, braised reindeer neck and blueberries.

During the evening a raffle was a great success. The prizes were particularly aimed at helping local businesses, for example gift cards from local restaurants.

The long months of pandemic restrictions meant that everyone was ready to party. Accordingly, after dinner many enthusiastically engaged in dancing to the upbeat tunes of the TT Big Band.
