An elegant and relaxed evening

After all the excitement of the Chapitre in March, where several members of the two Bailliages of Yaoundé and Douala were inducted, members of the Bailliage of Yaoundé met on May 18th at “La Pizzeria” restaurant for a dinner that was both elegant and relaxed.

As well as offering us the chance to get together, the event also marked World Chaîne Day, which took place on 23 April, with a slight delay due to last-minute logistical problems!

The evening gave Bailli Délégué Chloé Balanos the opportunity to present Chaîne to the guests, which included four ambassadors and to give a taste of some upcoming events in a programme she described as “a crusade of flavours to discover delicacies from around the world”.

On this particular evening we headed to Italy to enjoy the refinement of this country’s cuisine. As part of future events, we will savour the flavoursome gastronomy of Southeast Asia, which uses many spices such as coriander, turmeric and saffron.

We will also stop in Tunisia, with its typical Mediterranean cuisine based on age-old traditions and a gastronomic culture that reflects the different heritage of the Berbers, Arabs, Jews, Turks, Greeks and Italians.

Later on, we’ll head to Egypt, in the shadow of the pyramids, to enjoy a taste of the country’s cosmopolitan Mediterranean gastronomy.

Our travels will take us to Belgium, the United States, China and Greece, not forgetting our port of departure, Cameroon!

Members and friends of the Chaîne are invited to take part in a whole programme of events to discover the culinary diversity of the world, without having to set foot outside of Cameroon.
