Hungary - Platán Gourmet Restaurant

Bailliage of Hungary
Tata, November 3, 2022

Awarded 2 stars by Michelin
" Platán Gourmet Restaurant offers its guests an extraordinary culinary experience "

The first Michelin Guide Hungary was launched at the beginning of November 2022.

In the Bailliage of Hungary we had good reason for celebration as the great news was that Platán Gourmet Restaurant in Tata was awarded two stars.

The restaurant is a Chaîne member establishment. It is the first in the countryside to receive the Michelin 2-star accolade.

Owners Laszlo Szeles and Vivien Varga hold the Officier Maître Restaurateur and Maître Restaurateur grades respectively. Chef István Pesti is an Officier Maître Rôtisseur.

Part of Platán Manor, Platán Gourmet Restaurant offers its guests an extraordinary culinary experience, with stunning food compositions and colourful, flowery designs dreamt up by Chef István Pesti.

It was in 2015 that Chef Pesti took over the responsibility of heading up the kitchen brigade. He had the goal of demonstrating that a restaurant outside of the capital Budapest can offer high quality hospitality.

His “Chef’s degustation” menus are famous for good reason, many believing that he is the Chef with the most beautifully plated dishes in Hungary.

In 2020, with the help of designer Zoltán Varró, Platán Restaurant went through a grand renovation and was separated into two sections: a more informal bistro “Platán Bisztró” and the new fine dining “Gourmet Restaurant”.
