February 20, 2021

A virtual trip to Champagne
" four exclusive champagnes from the house of Pommery "

On Saturday, February 20th, over 170 members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs accepted the invitation extended by the Bailliage of Germany to the first on-line champagne tasting under the motto: “Chaîne meets Pommery”. It was a great evening!

Échanson Natalie Lumpp guided us through the digital evening with entertaining anecdotes and a lot of background information on the subject of champagne which brought us closer to appreciating four exclusive champagnes from the house of Pommery.

- Pommery Brut Royal NV 75cl
- Pommery Blanc de Blancs NV 75cl
- Pommery Brut Rosé 75cl
- Pommery Grand Cru Vintage 2008 75cl

Although currently we cannot travel we were momentarily whisked away to the Champagne region for a virtual flying visit.

It was another varied evening in the spirit of good taste.

Champagne Pommery is located in Reims. The house was founded as Pommery & Greno in 1858 by Alexandre Louis Pommery and Narcisse Greno with the primary business being wool trading. Under the guidance of Alexandre's widow, Louise Pommery, the firm was dedicated to Champagne production and soon became one of the region's largest Champagne brands. Champagne Pommery was the first house to market a Brut Champagne in 1874.

Pommery is currently owned by the Vranken-Pommery Monopole Group, which also has Heidsieck & Co Monopole and Vranken Champagne houses in their portfolio.

Each year, Pommery produces between five and six million bottles and attracts some 120,000 visitors from all over the world to its magnificent estate located in the heart of the city of Reims 5. It is possible to visit the champagne cellars, the exhibition of contemporary art installed in the caves as well as the Villa Demoiselle, just in front of the Maison Champagne Pommery in Reims.
