Denmark Dinner

Bailliage of Denmark
Aarhus, June 12, 2021

At Miró, a gastronomic institution
" In the kitchen, Alexander Johnsen rules as Head Chef. Out front is Restaurant Manager Sidse Rasmussen. "

Restaurant Miró is the oldest gourmet restaurant on the gastronomic scene in Aarhus having opened in 1990. At Miró’s helm is owner Toni Leichtle.

At Miró, the focus is on good taste, craftsmanship and ingredients. Classic French techniques interplay with local, exquisite ingredients emphasising Miró’s approach to food.

The team has been continuously expanded. Toni continues on the floor as the exceptional host. With the rest of the team, he does everything to ensure that you as a guest get a total experience.

In the kitchen, Alexander Johnsen rules as Head Chef. Out front is Restaurant Manager Sidse Rasmussen.

The aim is for Miró to be the place to which you always want to return. Where you can sit back and experience a unique and warm-hearted atmosphere garnished with tasty food created by passionate chefs.

For this dinner, on a warm June afternoon members and guests arrived with great expectations at the restaurant. We had agreed to start well in advance at 5.30pm. This was so we could get through the large menu “Hele Molevitten” (Ed. the whole shebang) before the COVID-19 closing deadline. This rule had been extended the day before by the government to midnight. We therefore had plenty of time to enjoy the evening in peace and quiet.

Toni and his team welcomed us with a glass of champagne in the bright and friendly room, on the corner next to the boulevard and the creek opposite.

Well placed in very comfortable chairs, we were guided through the evening’s dishes and wines by the various chefs and the restaurant manager, respectively.

After dinner, the brigades received a commentary from Chancelier Thorbjørn Moy (a Professional member whose previous Chaîne grade was that of Grand Officier Maître Rôtisseur).

Feedback was unanimous: all the dishes were of a very high craftsmanship quality. The professionalism of the team was obvious. Excellent service was provided, all in a safe, cosy atmosphere. It was therefore a mystery to Thorbjørn why there was no Michelin star sign hanging outside. Very high class and considering the price of the menu probably one of the best places he could think of to dine.

Bailli Délégué Jørgen Krenk awarded each member of staff a Bailliage of Denmark service pin in appreciation of the exquisite experience.

Finally our host, restaurateur Toni Leichte, was presented with a gold-plated “Diploma of Honour” for display in the restaurant.

We will definitely return to Miró!
