China Joint Chapitre

Bailliage of Shenyang, China
Shenyang, October 30, 2021

Inauguration and celebration
" the talk of the town for many years to come "

The inaugural Chapitre of the Bailliage of Shenyang was jointly presented with the Bailliage of Qingdao at the Grand Hyatt Shenyang.

More than 40 members and guests were in attendance. Presided over by Bailli Délégué Allen Wong in his capacity as a Member of the Conseil d’Administration, the Induction Ceremony commenced with 14 new members for the Chaîne and seven promotions. There followed three new Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs (OMGD) members and two Bronze Awards presented respectively to Carl Duggan (Bailli of Shenyang) and Adam Haywood (Vice-Chancelier of Qingdao).

Our pre-dinner reception showcased foie gras with Port, sous-vide spicy salmon, traditional Beijing roast duck and ‘5 J’s’ Spanish ham with tortilla. All were paired with perfectly chilled glasses of Champagne Moët et Chandon Brut Impérial.

Bailli Carl Duggan introduced both the Chapitre and Rajen Thuraisingham as the newly-appointed Bailli for Qingdao. Vice-Conseiller Culinaire Ivan Fargnoli and Vice-Échanson Eago Zhang introduced the Gala Dinner and selected wines for the evening.

The dinner held many surprises and memorable moments throughout the evening. Flawless preparation, execution and service with chefs adding to the experience. As they shaved fresh truffles at the table for the ravioli; poured oxtail consommé from Champagne bottles; paraded with luminous ice blocks for the sorbet. Then the finale … apple grand dessert.

The camaraderie and overall experience were very well received, promising to be the talk of the town for many years to come.

Each guest received a pair of laser-inscribed wine glasses and the exceptional programme of events. Truly, respect was earned from everyone for the high-quality standards expected from a Chaîne event and the unique experiences we always strive to present for our esteemed members and guests.

Vive la Chaîne!
