Canada Chapitre

Bailliage of Victoria, BC, Canada
Victoria (British Columbia), December 5, 2021

A balmy winter event
" Without a doubt, the presentation and plating of each course was outstanding "

Ah, a winter Chapitre! When, before donning their tuxes and evening wear, members had time for a dip in the swimming pool, a plunge into the mineral spring, or a soak in the hot tub. The beautiful Salish Sea lapped against the glass-topped retaining wall surrounding the event venue, The Oak Bay Beach Hotel and Resort (OBBH), which was recently voted the best in Canada by Condé Nast.

Bailli Délégué Tony Catanese, and Bailli Gail Gabel welcomed 57 members and guests to the first Induction Ceremony in Victoria since COVID-19 closed Chaîne activity in Canada. This was the first event for many attendees. They made a point of expressing pleasure, at being invited to enjoy the superb menu, wines, friendliness and ambiance of the entire evening.

The reception followed the Induction Ceremony presided over by Bailli Délégué Catanese. Whilst we were renewing old friendships and making new ones the OBBH staff quietly removed the theatre-style seating and turned the David Foster Foundation Auditorium into an elegant dining room.

Without a doubt, the presentation and plating of each course was outstanding. Unquestionably, the stunningly beautiful white, silver and green seasonal flower arrangements designed by Twyla Rusnak, wife of new Chevalier Illarion Gallant, made each table a show piece. At the end of the evening, nine very happy folk were able to take home these beautiful flower arrangements.

The evening concluded with an accolade praising the culinary and service teams for their dedication and excellence in delivering such a memorable dining experience. Each was presented with a Bailliage Certificate of Appreciation.

Maître Rôtisseur Kreg Graham was presented with a gift of Riedel glassware to add to his bar collection. Special thanks were expressed to Madone Pelan, OBBH General Manager, for both her attendance at our event and generous support of the Bailliage of Victoria.
