Celebrating Caputo's with all the senses

" For us, on a Sunday, of course it was a welcome opportunity to wash away our everyday life and enjoy it with all our senses "

The famous painter Pablo Picasso is reported to have once said: “The purpose of art is to wash the dust of everyday life from our souls.”

For us, on a Sunday, of course it was a welcome opportunity to wash away our everyday life and enjoy it with all our senses. In the Picasso Museum in the heart of Münster from the exhibition “Celebrating Picasso: Artist - Man - Genius(?)” we gained an idea of how this great artist lived and worked.

As fine-dining Chaîne members the only thing we did not share is his alleged preference for down-to-earth home cooking. Fortunately, we were spared this as, opposite the museum after the very well-founded, successful tour, the motivated team was already waiting at Caputo's with amuse-bouche and a refreshing Franciacorta Spumante over which everyone could exchange ideas about Picasso.

In the museum the focus was more on seeing and hearing. Carmelo Caputo and his team now invited us to free the other senses of touch, smell and taste from the dust of everyday life. Whether with tuna carpaccio with scallops, melon and curry vinaigrette; North Sea turbot on Venere risotto with saffron and fennel fumet; or with the excellent venison with peppered cherries and celery puree. We share Picasso's enthusiasm for animals. Albeit in a slightly different way.

Guests enjoyed the approachable, noble art, both at the Picasso exhibition and at Caputo's. So we ask ourselves whether the heading “Artist - “Human - Genius(?)” is appropriate. If you have unfounded doubts, simply visit often and be enchanted or “let everyday life be washed away from your soul”.
