The Bailliage of La Jolla celebrated its 50th Anniversary with an Induction Ceremony at the iconic La Valencia Hotel. It was held jointly with members from its neighbour, the Bailliage of Baja California in Mexico.

Since it opened its doors in 1926, La Valencia Hotel, with its striking views of the Pacific Ocean coastline, has been a glamorous destination at the heart of La Jolla in California’s San Diego County.

Bailli Marie Addario welcomed a prestigious group of national and international officers and honoraire officers from both the US and Mexico.

The Bailliage of La Jolla was formed in 1971 by gourmets from the greater San Diego area. Amongst whom was Barron Hilton. The decision to create a Bailliage, share their wine collections, professional teams and culinary skills with one another was a no brainer.

Bailli Honoraire Dominick Addario headed the Bailliage for 24 years keeping it vibrant and growing in San Diego County for half of the Bailliage’s existence. The torch was passed to Marie in 2021 following her retirement as Chargée de Presse National for the United States and Editor in Chief of the national Chaîne magazine, Gastronome.

Phil Kress, Bailli Provincial of the Far West, inducted four new members into the Bailliage and supported by Bailli Edwardo Quiroz inducted two members into the Bailliage of Baja California. Kress also elevated four members and awarded an Officier Commandeur pin.

The extraordinary dinner, created by talented Executive Chef Timothy Ralphs was enjoyed by all in The Med, the hotel’s premier dining room which has won, among other awards, both San Diego and Modern Luxury Magazines 2018 Best Hotel Restaurant.

Live music, joyful laughter, and the resounding clink of glasses set the celebratory tone for La Jolla’s milestone anniversary.
