The Bailliage goes Moorish
" When night fell, we were entertained by a memorable show of fire displays and belly dancing "
On August 4th, Bailli Marie-Anne Ferran invited members, their families, and friends to a “Moorish” party in a Bedouin tent beside the ancient walls of the Silves castle. Silves (known as Xelb then) was the Moor’s capital of the Algarve until its castle was taken in 1189. It was finally conquered by Christian crusaders in 1242.
The “Café Inglês” organised a superb dinner on the “Moorish” theme.
