Reinforcing a sense of belonging and camaraderie
" Champagne accompanied the afternoon in the traditional manner, with toasts offered in celebration of the occasion "
The Bailliage of Phuket marked World Chaîne Day with a gathering at Kata Rocks, overlooking the Andaman Sea in a setting of understated elegance and relaxed refinement.
From midday, members and guests arrived and gradually filled the terrace, where the atmosphere developed naturally into one of conviviality and ease. The Bailliage was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests from the Bailliages of Beijing, Penang, and Bangkok, whose participation reflected the international spirit of the Chaîne.
Conversations flowed effortlessly, and the occasion quickly assumed the character of a private gathering among friends rather than a formal event. Champagne accompanied the afternoon in the traditional manner, with toasts offered in celebration of the occasion.
At the same time, a note of light-hearted creativity was introduced: in a playful nod to Thailand’s Songkran festival, Champagne was at moments served using repurposed electric water pistols. This unexpected gesture was received with amusement and added a distinctly local character to the celebration.
A more discreet highlight followed, as commemorative pins were delicately placed within glasses of Bollinger Champagne. Their discovery created a shared moment of quiet delight, as members proudly wore their insignia, reinforcing a sense of belonging and camaraderie.
The culinary offering, presented by Kata Rocks, centred on a selection of grilled specialities, complemented by signature dishes including a well-received pork knuckle and a richly flavoured garlic-fried lobster. These were enjoyed throughout the afternoon as guests moved freely between the terrace and poolside setting.
The relaxed dress code of light linens and open collars reflected the tone of the day, allowing members and guests to engage comfortably with the surroundings. Some chose to enjoy the sunshine with Champagne in hand, while others gathered in the pool or along the terrace, where conversations continued unhurriedly.
As the afternoon progressed into early evening, music provided by the resident DJ accompanied the gathering, and the atmosphere evolved gently into one of quiet appreciation. Conversations deepened, and the occasion concluded with a shared sense of enjoyment and fulfilment.
