With much pleasure I can now announce that the 2023 International Final of the Jeunes Sommeliers Competition will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Bailli Délégué Sékumady Condé and his team have proposed an excellent programme to the Competition Committee. We were delighted to accept the broad principles with the details to be agreed in due course. The host hotel will be the InterContinental in Ljubljana.

The current draft programme is:

Tuesday, September 12th
Arrival of long-haul competitors and judges

Wednesday, September 13th
Arrival of short-haul competitors and judges
Welcome Dinner

Thursday, September 14th
Excursion to Goriška Brda vineyard
Early dinner and wine tasting at Grajsa Vinoteka and Hram Strelec in Ljubljana

Friday, September 15th
Semi-final at the InterContinental Hotel
Dinner at a location yet to be decided

Saturday, September 16th
Morning: Final at Ljubljana Castle
Evening: Awards Giving and Induction Ceremony at Ljubljana Castle followed by a Gala Dinner

Sunday, September 17th
Everyone departs for home

As Chair of the Competition Committee, I am thrilled that we will be bringing the Final to Slovenia. The Bailliage is well known for its deep belief in Slovenian food and wine products meaning that it is a great supporter of its Professional members all the while enjoying their creative gastronomy showing off these products. That there will now be the opportunity to give this passion an international audience is wonderful.
