Wonderful food, setting and company
" A day that was all about a great atmosphere and great flavours .. with some very happy participants!
On Sunday, April 23rd we enjoyed a delightful spring lunch at the “Au Moulin de la Wantzenau” restaurant to celebrate World Chaîne Day in Alsace.
The season got off to a great start as we were reunited with our friends from the Chaîne, from near and far! There was Gabriele Steyer, Bailli of Bade-Schwarzwald in Germany, Walter Bolliger, Officier of the Bailliage of Zurich Obersee in Switzerland, and our friends from the International Order of Anysetiers: Walter Johannes Steyer (Grand Maistre), Dany Walter (Sénéchal) and André Walter.
Chef Philippe Clauss managed to be both inconspicuous and generous, helped by a team that took care of every little detail and looked after us wonderfully!
We enjoyed an aperitif in the garden (the photos were taken under an 18th century stone arch commemorating the births of Boudhors family members, former owners of the property).
The menu was dedicated to specialities of the region and of the restaurant, served against a beautiful backdrop provided by Mother Nature.
MENU
Spring salad
White asparagus - a real treat!
Poussin with all the trimmings
(one of the restaurant’s specialities!)
Sweet moment
Coffee, mineral water
Everybody loved the exquisite Alsace asparagus with three sauces and the traditional “Mother Clauss” poussin, which was perfectly caramelised and crispy.
A day that was all about a great atmosphere and great flavours... with some very happy participants! We had everything we needed to make it a wonderful event.
That’s what the Chaîne gives us!
Vive la Chaîne!
