Finland - Lahti Dining (Part 2)

Bailliage of Finland

Ravintola Taivaanranta
" A proud Chaîne de Rôtisseurs member, the restaurant is part of the Teerenpeli Group "

Lahti is the capital of the Päijänne Tavastia region, fast growing to be one of the main economic hubs of Finland. The city is situated on a bay at the southern end of Lake Vesijärvi about 100 kilometres north-east of Helsinki, Finland’s capital city. In English, “Lahti” literally means “bay”. Lahti is also dubbed the “Chicago of Finland” due to the early industries of both cities when they were known as “slaughterhouse cities”. A long-time pioneering city in environmental sustainability, the European Commission named Lahti as the European Green Capital of 2021.

In this second part of the “Lahti Dining” trilogy, welcome to Ravintola Taivaanranta [Ed. Ravintola = Restaurant], located in the centre of Lahti. The restaurant has been offering food lovers unique flavours since 2000. A proud Chaîne de Rôtisseurs member, the restaurant is part of the Teerenpeli Group.

Chaîne members at the establishment are:
- Marianne Pyssing, Maître Restaurateur (Owner)
- Niko Nyman, Vice-Conseiller Culinaire (Chef)
- Anu Lehto, Chef de Table (Service)
- Maija Luoma-Aho, Chef de Table (Service)

The Teerenpeli Group includes Teerenpeli restaurants in seven locations as well as Teerenranta - a floating summer restaurant - and a wine café “Olavi”, both in Lahti, together with the internationally award-winning Teerenpeli Brewery & Distillery, whose own craft beers, ciders and whiskies are, of course, available at Taivaanranta.

Ravintola Taivaanranta is the perfect setting for everyday dining but it’s also great for special occasions for which its private dining rooms provide the perfect setting for a business, family or friends to get together.

The Bailliage of Lahti congratulates Taivaanranta's service brigade member Maija Luoma-Aho on her induction as a Chef de Table during the Induction Ceremony of the Chapitre held in the city on November 18, 2023. Maija is an experienced customer service and restaurant industry professional. In 2024 there will be cause for celebration again, when she will achieve 20 years of working at Taivaanranta.

Besides, the induction of one of its staff members, Ravintola Taivaanranta hosted an outstanding lunch which was part of the Chapitre programme. The establishment’s reputation for fine dining was another good reason for staging the Chapitre in Lahti.
