A dream by the lake
" Officier Maître Hôtelier Valentin Fillafer has been the General Manager since March 2016 "

What was a popular Harz Mountains rest stop and hostel for travellers centuries ago is now a thriving luxury 5-star hotel where Officier Maître Hôtelier Valentin Fillafer has been the General Manager since March 2016.

In addition to Valentin at the hotel, Chef de Table Liam Lau is a recently joined young member of the Chaîne.

Absolutely no question: this country house “Zu den Rothen Forellen” is not for everyday life. It’s definitely an escape from it. Even for just a few hours to visit the first-class restaurant in beautiful surroundings or to take advantage of the numerous offerings.

The house has a history that goes back more than 400 years with J. W. Goethe and Heinrich Heine as visitors amongst others. Stars from more recent times include, for example, George Clooney and Matt Damon. Every other guest has been inspired by the magical, romantic flair of the establishment.

“Zu den Rothen Forellen” is located directly on the Forellensee in close proximity to the Brocken, its local mountain.

From the rooms to the spacious spa area to the restaurants and the outdoor facilities, no wish of the discerning guest is left unfulfilled. The mixture of the house’s history, the service, quality of the offering, warmth of the staff and wonderful surroundings make the “Rothe Forelle” [English = Red Trout] something very special.

Connoisseurs and gourmets like to go to the “country house restaurant” for dinner. Chef Viktor Rundau and his team succeed every day in conjuring up unforgettable culinary delights using high-quality ingredients - many sourced from the region.

The dishes are characterized by modern German cuisine, supplemented by inspiration from Eastern European cuisine. Of course, in the very well-stocked wine cellar you will find fine wines that perfectly complement the meal. Particularly worth mentioning is the “Forellen-Bar”, which has also won several awards especially for its exceptional and extensive selection of spirits.
