In the rich tapestry of Turkish winemaking, Doluca stands as a beacon of tradition, innovation, and unwavering quality. For over 95 years, Doluca has meticulously crafted wines from high-quality grapes, maintaining a steadfast commitment to excellence and a dedication to preserving the essence of Turkish viticulture.

The story of Doluca begins with Nihat Kutman, a visionary who, after studying oenology and viticulture at the prestigious Geisenheim Institute in Germany, returned to Türkiye in 1926. He laid the foundation for Doluca by founding Maison Vinikol in Galata, which would later evolve into the renowned winemaking powerhouse it is today.

Initially experimenting with Yapıncak and Karalahana grape varieties in Mürefte, Nihat soon realized the need for superior grape varieties to elevate Turkish winemaking to international standards. His quest led him to Germany and France in 1935 where he discovered and introduced varieties such as Cinsault, Semillon, and Riesling to Türkiye. These varieties, particularly Semillon and Cinsault, have since become integral to the Turkish vineyard landscape.

Transportation posed a logistical challenge in the early days, with wine barrels being towed behind rowing boats and shipped to Istanbul before the advent of road transportation in the 1950s. However, advancements in technology in the 1960s, including the introduction of de-stemmers and chillers, revolutionized production, resulting in a marked improvement in wine quality.

The 1970s marked a period of significant milestones for Doluca, with the introduction of Villa Doluca wines, quickly establishing themselves as the epitome of prestige and popularity in Türkiye. Additionally, Doluca launched its first varietal product, a Riesling, showcasing its commitment to producing wines of distinct character and quality.

The 1980s saw Doluca’s expansion both nationally and internationally, with investments in capacity, technology, and quality. The establishment of the Sefaköy wine filling and packaging unit in 1987 further underscored Doluca’s commitment to innovation and excellence.

In 1990, Doluca embarked on a groundbreaking venture with the establishment of Sarafin, a collaboration between Güven Nil and Ahmet Kutman, aimed at pushing the boundaries of Turkish winemaking. This partnership yielded remarkable results, with the first Sarafin product hitting the market in 1998.

The turn of the millennium ushered in a new era of innovation for Doluca, with the introduction of Türkiye's first natural sweet wine and the pioneering use of native grape varieties combined with universal grape varieties. Under the leadership of Technical Director Ali Kutman, Doluca continued to lead the way in modern production techniques and research and development activities.

Doluca’s vineyards, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, have played a pivotal role in advancing viticulture in Türkiye, cementing their status as crucial investments in the country's winemaking landscape.

In recent years, Doluca has continued to innovate and push boundaries, introducing products such as Signium, a wine crafted from the finest grapes of each year's harvest, and the Alçıtepe brand, symbolizing the culmination of Turkish viticulture.

With the introduction of the Tuğra series and the inauguration of cutting-edge production facilities in Çerkezköy, Doluca remains steadfast in its mission to add pleasure to life for Turkish wine lovers, embodying a legacy of excellence that has endured since its inception in 1926.
