After an army career of nearly 20 years, Julian joined the wine trade in 1979. He was Group Managing Director of two wine companies for two years until 1984.

Over the years he has acquired several exclusive French wine agencies. Julian White Agencies now represents in the United Kingdom some 45 châteaux and domaines.

Julian has travelled to most of the world’s wine-producing regions however he remains a specialist in Champagne, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Rhône and Bordeaux.

From 1999-2013 Julian was the British Ambassador of the Confrérie du Sabre d’Or, the Champagne Order devoted to the promotion of Champagne by continuing the tradition of the art of sabrage. He founded the UK Chapter and is a Grand Commandeur of the Order. He remains the Ambassador Emeritus Mondiale.

Julian used to lecture on and lead tours to Champagne, Burgundy, the Loire and Bordeaux. During the last 20 years he has conducted nine tours of Champagne, three of which were combined with Burgundy. The tours included the prominent Champagne houses as well as the individual growers.

In association with Philippe Brugnon, his principal from Rilly-la-Montagne, Julian holds an Annual Tasting in May. Additionally, he usually runs a “Magnum and Jeroboam” dinner annually showing a wide range of Champagne in large formats and Fine Burgundy and Bordeaux.

A Freeman of the City of London, Julian is a Professionel du Vin and Commandeur (20 years) in the Chaîne.
