A historic milestone: 1950-2025
" At Easter in 1950 .. over a dinner at the Auberge de la Truite in the fashionable rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs was created "
Dear fellow members across the world
This year marks a historic milestone for our association as the modern-day Chaîne des Rôtisseurs celebrates 75 years of gastronomic passion.
Over the centuries the “Confrérie” cultivated and developed culinary art and high standards of professionalism and quality - standards befitting the splendour of the “Royal Table” - until the guild system was disbanded, together with all others, in 1793 during the French Revolution.
At Easter in 1950 (Easter Day was on Sunday, April 9th) over a dinner at the Auberge de la Truite in the fashionable rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs was created to resurrect the ideals of the Guild of Roasters disbanded at the time of the French Revolution. The dinner was attended by Dr Auguste Becart, Jean Valby, Curnonsky (aka Maurice Sailland elected “Prince of Gastronomes”) together with Chefs Louis Giraudon and Marcel Dorin.
Chaîne Today
Since its rebirth the Chaîne has grown dramatically, spreading its influence and presence worldwide. Today, the Confrérie brings together Professional and Non-professional members from around the world who share in the spirit of the society and who appreciate and enjoy wine and fine dining. This association of people dedicated to fine cuisine, now devotes itself to promoting and developing the gastronomic values whilst at the same time widening its focus to ‘table art’.
