Don't forget love
" The cuisine is complemented by a wide selection of wines which represent the whole of Italy "
The motto “don’t forget love” holds great meaning for everyone at the Osteria der Katzlmacher. Maître Restaurateur Giorgio Cherubini says, “We strive to live by it every day. By this, we don’t just mean human relationships or love for our environment. Above all it is love for the products and their quality. Our goal is for our guests to experience and enjoy a taste of Italy right in the heart of Munich.”
The restaurant has been in Munich since 1983 and from May 2006 located on Bräuhausstraße. In a cosy atmosphere, Italian tradition is celebrated with knowledgeable, attentive service. The cuisine represents the full variety of Italy, featuring carefully selected authentic products and a menu that changes daily to delight again and again.
The cuisine is complemented by a wide selection of wines which represent the whole of Italy. Well-known labels and small vintners alike fill the wine list of around 300 options with a knowledgeable staff happy to assist your choices.
Centuries ago, the Katzlmacher was a poor peddler who, in the winter, carved wooden soup spoons, called “Gatzl,” and sold them across the Alps during the summer.
Maître Restaurateur Giorgio Cherubini and his team look forward every day to pampering their discerning guests at the Katzlmacher. For example, on March 5th there was an imaginative dinner for the start to Lent created by Head Chef Angelo Fonti for Chaîne members and guests. This traditional dinner hosted by Giorgio was anything but traditional. Each course was named after members of the kitchen and service brigades, the dishes being inspired by their home regions with a modern twist. The experienced leadership of Giovanni Mancuso ensured that the service was impeccable. What a team!
