A memorable evening of cuisine, wine and camaraderie
" A thoughtfully composed menu showcased both international and regional dishes "
On Friday evening, April 24th, the Jahazi Restaurant at the Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam came alive with the warm fellowship of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs when 31 members and seven guests gathered to mark World Chaîne Day.
The evening’s graceful service was led by Senior Sous Chef Ally Zidiheri Msuya and Chef Doreen Orgenes Urassa, together with their brigade, who created an atmosphere of refined hospitality.
Guests sipped on Spier 21 Gables Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon as conversation flowed across the tables with lots of laughter and loud chatter, in true fashion of the National Bailliage of Tanzania.
A thoughtfully composed menu showcased both international and regional dishes. Highlights were:
- pan-seared salmon with Champagne sauce and vegetable rice
- herb-scented beef tournedos with columbine potatoes
- a vibrant Laziz Sabzi Kadai* being the vegetarian main course alternative to the beef.
For the dessert, warm chocolate lover cake with strawberry compote and vanilla ice cream provided a fitting finale to a memorable evening of cuisine, wine and camaraderie.
We are proud to share that all the chefs and managers were awarded with a Bailliage Certificate of Appreciation for their level of service and providing a truly memorable dining experience.

* Ed. "Laziz" translates to "delicious" or "tasty" in Urdu/Hindi, and "Sabzi Kadai" refers to mixed vegetables cooked in a traditional Indian wok (kadai). In other words, in general, the name of the dish indicates a delicious mixed vegetable stir-fry or curry.
