For World Chaîne Day 2026, the Bailliage of Kanto (Tokyo) gathered on April 24th under the theme “A Chaîne day celebration with a terrace overlooking a verdant garden and a Japanese-Western fusion dinner.”

This year’s venue was Happo-en in Shirokanedai, Tokyo, newly renovated last autumn and now shining with renewed elegance. With its historic garden, dating back more than 400 years and its refined modern interiors, Happo-en provided a truly memorable setting for this special celebration.

The event was made possible through the gracious cooperation of Mr Haruyoshi Hase, an Officier Maître Restaurateur and valued member of the Chaîne, who serves as Chairman and Representative Director of Happo-en.

The evening began with an aperitif on the terrace overlooking the lush garden, offering guests a serene escape from the bustle of central Tokyo. Dinner followed in an elegant banquet room inspired by washi, traditional Japanese paper.

Guests enjoyed a beautifully composed Japanese-Western fusion menu prepared under the direction of Executive Chef Matsunaga, paired with carefully selected wines. Each course reflected Japanese sensibility, French culinary technique and a deep respect for seasonal ingredients.
