A new strategic partnership for the Chaîne
" In this second article, we explore the wonderful wines produced by the Perrin Family under the 'Miraval' brand "
The Chaîne is absolutely delighted to have established a strategic partnership with Miraval, whose extraordinary generosity will see the estate provide the wines to accompany the menu for the opening dinner of the International Grand Chapitre at Centre d’Art Caumont on Thursday, 11 June. Such a gracious and distinguished commitment from Miraval is deeply valued and sincerely appreciated by the Chaîne and we are immensely grateful for the estate’s support, partnership, and contribution to what promises to be a truly exceptional occasion.
In this second article, we explore the wonderful wines produced by the Perrin Family under the “Miraval” brand.
FAQs
Is the estate certified organic?
Yes, Chateau Miraval vineyards have been cultivated organically for many years and are certified organic.
Are the wines certified organic?
No. Since the 2012 vintage, we made the decision not to claim an organic status for the wines for two reasons:
- To maximize quality, Miraval wants to have the flexibility to blend the estate’s grapes with top quality grapes sourced from other vineyards which are not necessarily certified organic.
- Miraval uses a stabilization method (French: stabilisation tartrique membranaire) which is not certified as organic in Europe (but is in the USA).
Are the wines 100% estate grown?
No. As mentioned above, Miraval wants to have the flexibility to blend the grapes of the estate with other top quality grapes sourced from vineyards that cannot be found on the estate.
Where are the wines bottled?
The wines are bottled at the Famille Perrin winery where they have installed a state-of-the-art bottling line, which enables us to perfectly control the level of dissolved oxygen added during the bottling - a key qualitative parameter for rosé wines in particular.
Which appellations are produced?
The estate covers more than 600 hectares. One rosé wine (AOC Côtes de Provence) is produced together with two white wines (AOC Côtes de Provence and AOC Côteaux Varois en Provence) and one red wine (Vin de France).
Is the bottle engraved?
Yes. Starting with the 2014 vintage, and to avoid the risk of counterfeit wines, the bottle for the rosé has been engraved.
Are the vineyards replanted?
Yes. Over the last three years, several geological studies have been carried out on the estate which have revealed some outstanding parcels, some of which are outside of the AOC boundaries. The plan is to plant these parcels in the future.
Is the estate open to the public?
Sadly not. But the wines are available from a multitude of retailers.
TASTING NOTES
The 2025 vintage
In Provence, 2025 was marked by several episodes of intense heat, with temperature peaks in August, which required great vigilance in the vineyards. Some plots suffered from hydric stress, while maturity was early, offering beautiful aromatic profiles. Smaller than the usual average, the berries proved particularly concentrated and expressive. While the average yield in the Mediterranean basin is expected to be slightly lower than in recent years depending on the sector, the quality of the grapes remains remarkable, with beautiful aromatic power combined with the freshness, characteristic of Provence wines.
Studio Rosé by Miraval - 2025
Studio Blanc by Miraval - 2025
The “Studio” brand was created as a tribute to the recording studio where Pink Floyd recorded ‘The Wall’, this wine symbolizes the spirit of Art de Vivre around the Mediterranean.
Studio Rosé by Miraval is strongly influenced by the sea sprays and the proximity of the Mediterranean Sea. These salty soils give the wine a unique character and an almost iodized finish. Studio Blanc has a pale, clear colour. It is fresh and delicate on the nose with notes of fresh citrus enhanced by a subtle mineral touch. The palate opens with freshness, revealing aromas of white peaches and pomelos, complemented by a saline finish that brings a lovely freshness to the wine.
Miraval Côtes de Provence Rosé - 2025
Issued from a selection of vineyards close to the village of Correns, this rosé is a wonderful blend of fruits aromas and freshness, made on exceptional terroir in Provence. The grapes are harvested exclusively in the morning and sorted twice. They are then vinified in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats (95%) and in barrels (5%) with batonnage (stirring of the lees).
Miraval Côtes de Provence Blanc - 2025
The grapes are handpicked in small crates and then sorted. After gentle pressing there is a low temperature fermentation followed by ageing in demi-muids (600 litres) and barriques (225 litres) with bâtonnage (stirring of the lees) for 50% of the cuvee. This wine is fleshy and mineral at the same time with aromas of white-flesh fruit, small peaches and almonds. A balance which gives this wine a unique sensation.
Miraval Blanc Coteaux Varois Blanc - 2018
Chateau Miraval is one of the only estates in Provence to have its own private valley on the Commune of Correns to the north of Brignoles. It covers two appellations: Coteaux Varois en Provence (to the North-West) and Cotes de Provence (to the East of the estate). This “Varois” wine is fleshy and mineral at the same time with aromas of white-flesh fruit, small peaches and almonds. A balance which gives this wine a unique sensation.
Miraval Côtes de Provence ‘Cru Sainte-Victoire’ Rosé - 2025
The terroir of Saint-Victoire is made up of limestone clay parcels on slopes looking down over the Upper Arc Valley, on two opposing hillsides. The Mediterranean climate offers exceptional sunshine exposure and a strong Mistral wind, with thermal amplitude that is magnified by the more continental character of this terroir. These conditions enable the grapes to ripen to perfection and naturally maintain perfect balance between freshness and acidity. The grapes from this parcel were picked at night to preserve all the freshness of the fruit. Vinification then took place in controlled temperatures, always with the objective of preserving the freshness of the aromas, before short ageing on fine lees.
The 2025 vintage wine has an elegant, very pale pink colour. The nose offers a superb aromatic bouquet of peach, raspberry, redcurrant and citrus, revealing a lovely minerality. The palate opens with notes of red berries and white-fleshed fruits before lingering on a long, lemony and briny finish. A particularly elegant wine, with remarkable freshness.
