Like a Swedish Oxford, Lund is one of the oldest university cities of Sweden. First Danish for some 600 years and then Swedish for another 400. Amongst other things there is an impressive 1000-year-old cathedral plus of course thousands of students. In short, a great venue for the Swedish Grand Chapitre of 2026 with 150 members and guests. The city of Lund is part of the Bailliage of Scanie, or just Skåne in Swedish.

Friday evening opened the Chapitre with three great start-up dinners in the centre of Lund at Klostergatan Vin & Delikatess, Mat & Destillat and Restaurang På Skissernas.

Saturday morning included two excursions to the best vineyards in the neighbourhood. One to Flädie Vingård and the other to Flyinge Vingård including a great lunch at Gastro Gaspari. As a bonus quite a few bottles of Swedish wine were brought back to Lund after the visits.

The Induction Ceremony took place at the Grand Hotel Lund late Saturday afternoon in the former hotel cinema, now called The Piraten Room. The soft leather cinema chairs most probably being some of the most comfortable ever for a Swedish Induction Ceremony. The Grand Hotel Lund with 50+ years membership is the longest still active professional hotel member of the Bailliage of Sweden.

During the Induction Ceremony the hotel’s Officer Maître Restaurateur Leif Paulsson was awarded both Grand Officer Commandeur for his long membership as well as the Médaille d’Argent for his and the Paulsson family’s outstanding support to Chaîne over the years.

After the Induction Ceremony everyone moved to the Ballroom for Champagne and appetizers. Later we all enjoyed a great Skåne dinner.

The Grand Hotel’s Maître Restaurateur Henrik Ljungqvist created a signature ‘Spring Dinner’. Local asparagus, halibut, spring chicken, Skåne cheese and dessert from the region all made up a fantastic dinner paired with superb wines from The Grand’s wine cellar. During the dinner we had the pleasure of having a group of eight students from the Lund’s Academic Choir performing a selection of Swedish and international songs.

On Sunday morning the National Baillige’s Annual General Meeting was held with a presentation of the Chaîne in Sweden and worldwide. Basically “around the Chaîne world in 60 minutes!”

Our Grand Chapitre 2026 in Lund was in all ways a well planned and executed event. From this year’s event in the most southern Swedish region we will head 1500 kilometres north to the Arctic Circle and the midnight sun for the 2027 Grand Chapitre
