When a butterfly flaps its wings, does it produce an effect that can be experienced across the world? Our Bailliage of Monterey Peninsula believes it does. At California’s Central Coast, the annual migration of Monarch butterflies from Mexico to Canada brings thousands of the insects for a stopover on the Peninsula. Similarly Chaîne members worldwide gathered to celebrate World Chaîne Day (WCD).

The Bailliage’s celebration was at Grasing’s Restaurant in downtown Carmel-By-The-Sea, California. Bailli Glenn Hammer welcomed guests to the first event of the year. He introduced Grasing’s owner Maître Rôtisseur Kurt Grasing and his talented Executive Chef, Vice-Conseiller Culinaire Honoraire Cal Stamenov who provided a delectable six-course menu.

One very special tradition of our Bailliage during WCD is that members bring magnums from their own wine collections to share.

Special wines, exceptional food, deep friendships rounded out a truly memorable, celebratory fine dining experience befitting of World Chaîne Day 2023.
