Highly talented, experienced and charming, Maître Rôtisseur Ana Grgić is Executive Chef at Zagreb’s prestigious Esplanade Hotel. In 2012 she proudly became the first woman to lead the hotel’s kitchen following the tradition of crafting exceptional cuisine. She definitively placed her specific culinary touch within her dishes.

Ambitious flair, exceptional talent and bundles of creativity have led Ana to the most prestigious global gourmet restaurants with two Michelin stars spending valuable time perfecting her culinary skills under the leadership of famous European chefs. Her knowledge and expertise was developed at Rezidor Hotel Group’s culinary academy. She continues to drive her passion, perfect her culinary talent working alongside award-winning chefs.

At the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, Ana had an amazing opportunity to prepare Korean dishes with the President of the Korean Food Institute and the leading chef of the Royal cuisine in Korea, Sook-Ja Joon. She used this wonderful and insightful experience to introduce a Korean menu in the Esplanade’s Le Bistro Restaurant.

In 2015 The Esplanade’s Zinfandel’s Restaurant was one of 1,000 top global restaurants who on very same evening in 150 countries, over five continents celebrated French gastronomy as part of the “Good France” global project. For this joyous occasion Ana delightfully crafted a special menu.

During Ana’s career at The Esplanade she has prepared outstanding meals for royalty, heads of government, state officials, celebrities from show business and sporting legends, all the while receiving awards for competence, excellence and style of cooking.

In 2016, Ana became the first female jury member of the “Celebrity MasterChef” series. She concluded that this valuable experience helped in her further progress as The Esplanade’s Executive Chef.

Ana drives an extensive culinary operation combining both kitchen and creating concepts for the luxury Zinfandel’s Restaurant with the Oleander Terrace, the charming French-themed Le Bistro, room service menus, Esplanade Bar and Esplanade catering crafting innovative cuisine for events, conferences and wedding receptions.

She conjures up new promotional menus fabulously personalised with seasonal ingredients. Each season Ana carefully creates à la carte menus, which pose their own set of challenges. Distinctive style using local, currently available fresh ingredients Ana magically creates truly unique experiences of taste and smell.

Ana’s style is a combination of Mediterranean and classic continental prepared in a modern style. She very much enjoys experimenting with molecular gastronomy to create delightfully unusual combinations of flavours pleasing to the eye and palate. She monitors global gastronomy trends and strives to introduce them into her creations. Every dish represents a unique work of art.
