Cooking class graduation ceremony
" During the class, the students have the opportunity to meet chefs and restaurant owners and have them as mentors "
The Bailliage of Israel operates a cookery workshop programme for young people at risk, especially those coming from a low socio-economic status, although some of them come from migrant worker families supported by the Israeli welfare services.
The programme objectives are:
- developing young chefs in Israel;
- promoting excellence in the culinary areas;
- being an influential factor in community involvement.
Each class takes about six months and includes 25 sessions in which the students acquire basic theoretical and practical cooking, as well as confectionery and culinary skills that allow them to have employment opportunities in restaurants, bakeries and fast-food outlets.
During the class, the students have the opportunity to meet chefs and restaurant owners and have them as mentors. We also encourage them to integrate into work while studying for further practice.
On May 19th we celebrated the graduation of the sixth term of the school with 13 graduates, eight of them have already started to work in restaurants and fast-food. The school graduates presented their skills by cooking the event lovely meal.
