The freshest fish is eaten on the coast. Right in the middle of the fishing harbour of Bremerhaven, just 200 metres away from the fish auction halls, stands the proof of this - the Natusch Fishing Harbour Restaurant.
It is one of the top destinations for gourmets in Germany and is affectionately referred to by connoisseurs simply as “the Natusch”. No fish enters the kitchen without first being inspected by the critical eye of the chef.
Since the summer of 2017, Natusch has been in its third generation under the management of Kenneth Natusch-van Kesteren (who sadly passed away in September 2022) and his wife Tanja.
The Natusch family are early risers by necessity; at seven in the morning, they are at the auction halls bidding on the finest sole, turbot, monkfish, dab, salmon, snapper, ray, wolffish, or even shark for their guests.

But the Natusch family and their team don’t just prove their dedication to excellent cuisine within their own establishment; they also showcase it at international fairs and fish specialty weeks at renowned venues across Europe.

On a Friday evening at the end of August the members of the Bailliage of Bremerhaven-Westniedersachsen commenced their “Bremerhaven” weekend with a dinner on the restaurant’s terrace. It was hosted by Maître Restaurateur Tanja Natusch and her father, Grand Officer Maître Restaurateur Lutz Natusch, along with Maître Rôtisseur Thomas Wiese. Not surprisingly, the culinary treats prepared by Thomas Wiese and his kitchen brigade were a true delight.
