A stalwart Bailli takes Honoraire status
" His unwavering dedication over these years has been nothing short of extraordinary "

At the final Board meeting for 2024 of the Bailliage of KwaZulu Natal hosted by Shaun Munro at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani in Durban, Bailli Délégué Llewellyn Buckley-Marais gave a laudatory discourse to Shaun by Teams link as he was unable to travel from Cape Town to be there in person. Here is what he said …

“Esteemed colleagues,

It is my honour to take this moment to recognize and thank, what I deem, a remarkable individual, Shaun Munro, for his unparalleled contributions as Bailli of KwaZulu-Natal. Shaun has been an integral part of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs since 1999 and has served as Bailli with distinction since 2016. His unwavering dedication over these years has been nothing short of extraordinary.

On a personal level, Shaun has been more than a colleague, he’s been a friend, a confidante, and a sounding board. He has guided both François and I through challenges, including navigating the complexities of the fraud situation, often stepping in alongside Sean Webber to handle the heavy lifting not just for his Bailliage but for the national organization as well. His wisdom and steadfast support have been invaluable to me in my own journey and decisions during my tenure.

Shaun’s contributions go beyond administration. He has hosted countless, dinners, functions, international guests and ocean liners, all while embodying the passion, heart, and soul of the Chaîne. His legacy is one of excellence, leaving us with what I believe is the most successfully run board in South Africa.

Shaun, you have truly kept our Bailliage on the straight and narrow, and your service, leadership, and unwavering passion for the Chaîne have been an inspiration to us all. On behalf of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, thank you for everything you have done.

Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in a heartfelt round of applause for Shaun Munro.”

Ed. We wish Shaun - a stalwart who will indeed be much missed - all the very best in his retirement from the Chaîne. To read about Shaun’s career please click this link Chaîne News Online to read an article published on February 10, 2023.
