World Chaîne Day - Ari-Pekka Parviainen

April 26, 2025

10 years since going worldwide

" Ari-Pekka has systematically improved the visibility of WCD by constantly generating new ideas "

The international special day of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, World Chaîne Day (WCD), celebrated its 10th anniversary on April 26th.

As in previous years, the day brought together thousands of Chaîne members from around the world and it’s largely due to the Ari-Pekka Parviainen, Member of the Conseil d’Administration from Finland.

Ari-Pekka has served as a Board member of the international Chaîne des Rôtisseurs since 2011, and for the last 11 years his main responsibility has been to develop World Chaîne Day, the celebration uniting all Chaîne members.

On WCD, we celebrate, with members and Chaîne restaurants, the gastronomic culture of different countries and the friendship of food and wine that transcends borders.

The first “Chaîne Day” event was held in Finland in 2014, highlighting high quality national food ingredients and our high Finnish professionalism. The Finnish event was a great success in every way. So much so that Ari-Pekka took both the idea and the method of delivery to the international administration. He got everyone excited about the idea!

Quickly, Chaîne countries around the world became involved in the special day. Accordingly, it was established as an international Chaîne event with its own special visual created.

Ari-Pekka has systematically improved the visibility of WCD by constantly generating new ideas. On WCD, a gastronomy lover from anywhere in the world can see other people’s WCD day events on an international display wall that gathers social media posts, including theme years and an international photo contest.

With continuous development, the importance of WCD in all Bailliages has grown. It’s currently the only event that gathers people together in one day to celebrate gastronomy and international friendship.

Ari-Pekka stated in 2015, “International World Chaîne Day is a great example of the community focus of our members and cross-country cooperation. Together we can increase the appreciation of gastronomy and awareness of our members’ strong professionalism in the field. Most importantly, it’s possible not to forget to have fun.” These themes still hold firm 10 years later.
