New headquarters for the National Bailliage

" A perfect setting for the Chaîne's rich traditions, Castellum Gruuthuyse offers a harmonious blend of historical grandeur and modern functionality "

The National Bailliage held its 2025 Annual General Meeting in its splendid new headquarters, namely Castellum Gruuthuyse in the heart of Bruges.

A perfect setting for the Chaîne’s rich traditions, Castellum Gruuthuyse offers a harmonious blend of historical grandeur and modern functionality, including state-of-the-art meeting facilities, a professional kitchen and a breathtaking garden designed for celebrations under open skies.

The estate is steeped in natural and architectural beauty. Comprising woodlands such as Warandebos and Kwameers, cultivated fields, and historic farmsteads like Hoeve Joyeuse Pensée and Hoeve Ter Lare, it paints a picture of enduring Belgian heritage.

Majestic tree-lined avenues - such as the Hogedreef - still trace their way through the landscape, connecting the estate directly to the village of Oostkamp. The castle itself is in the protected heritage site of Kastelen Gruuthuyse-Cellen-Erkegem en Kampveld.

As for the Annual General Meeting, the evening that went far beyond official proceedings, blossoming into an inspiring strategic exchange and a true celebration of camaraderie, gastronomy, and tradition. After the fruitful meeting, members were treated to a sumptuous seafood platter, expertly paired with the elegant Belgian Belbul - a newly coined abbreviation celebrating Belgian sparkling wines made in the traditional method. The featured label for the evening was Genoelselderen Zwarte Parel, a sparkling jewel that charmed every palate.

As tradition dictates, the evening concluded in the most Belgian of ways - with music. But this time, it was made unforgettable by the beautiful voice of Dame de la Chaîne Heidi Louagie, whose performance added a final touch of magic to an already extraordinary night.

Reinvigorated by strategic vision, inspired fellowship and culinary delight, not to mention its new headquarters, the Bailliage of Belgium now looks ahead with excitement to the summer season and to the much-anticipated OMGD* International Grand Chapitre in Brussels in September.

Vive la Chaîne!
