A story of terroir, ambition and excellence
" Today, Domaine du Chant d'Éole has become much more than a vineyard, it is the expression of a vision, an ambition and a deeply Belgian conviction "
Some wine estates tell the story of a terroir. Others tell the story of an adventure. Chant d’Éole belongs firmly to the latter.
In the heart of the Belgian province of Hainaut, a family of entrepreneurs took a bold step: to believe that Belgium could produce exceptional sparkling wines, worthy of the finest tables and capable of earning a place among wine lovers around the world.
Today, Domaine du Chant d’Éole has become much more than a vineyard, it is the expression of a vision, an ambition and a deeply Belgian conviction: excellence is not a matter of latitude, but of passion, hard work, patience and the courage to look beyond what already exists.
From boldness to excellence
The story of Chant d’Éole is first and foremost, an entrepreneurial story.
When the first vines were planted, the idea was anything but obvious. Belgium is not traditionally associated with fine wine. Yet year after year, the founders, Hubert Ewbank de Wespin and Louis Ewbank de Wespin, with their teams have demonstrated that Belgian terroir can produce wines of remarkable finesse and genuine character.
That achievement is rooted in a demanding approach: understanding the land, observing its particularities, working with precision and never taking success for granted.
Today, Chant d’Éole has become one of the most recognized names in Belgian wine and is playing an important role in shaping a new image for Belgium as a wine-producing country. Yet the prestige of the estate lies not only in its wines. It also lies in the remarkable human and entrepreneurial adventure behind them.
A destination built around wine
Chant d’Éole has chosen to create a complete destination around wine.
The estate now brings together vineyards, gastronomy, hospitality, events and experiences. Visitors are invited to discover wine not simply as a product, but as an expression of a place, a culture and a way of life. This vision naturally resonates with those who see gastronomy as a complete experience. To understand a wine is also to understand the landscape in which it was born, the people who shape it and the philosophy that guides them.
At Chant d’Éole, this philosophy is expressed through a constant pursuit of excellence, combined with a desire to make that excellence alive, welcoming and shareable.
A distinctly Belgian identity
Perhaps what makes Chant d’Éole particularly distinctive is its ability to express a Belgian identity without trying to imitate what already exists elsewhere. The estate is not attempting to reproduce another region’s model. It is seeking to reveal what Belgium itself can offer at its very best.
Its terroir, climate, landscape, heritage, know-how and, above all, its remarkable spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation have become the foundations of its identity.
The success of Chant d’Éole is therefore part of a larger story: that of a Belgium increasingly confident in taking its place on the international map of gastronomy and wine. And that ambition reaches far beyond Hainaut.
A story already intertwined with the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs
This international outlook has found a particularly meaningful expression through Chant d’Éole’s relationship with the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
In 2025, for instance, the estate had the pleasure of welcoming around 100 members of the Chaîne during the International Grand Chapitre of the Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs (OMGD).
These encounters were about much more than wine tasting. They were an opportunity to share a place, a story, a passion and a vision of wine.
The harvest provided another opportunity to experience the estate from within, with several members of the Chaîne taking part in this essential moment in the life of the vineyard, proudly wearing their Chaîne ribbons among the vines. These moments express something fundamental about Chant d’Éole: wine is ultimately about people, transmission, friendship and conviviality.
And the story continues. Chant d’Éole’s participation in the Chaîne’s adventure in Hong Kong opens a new chapter and perfectly illustrates the international dimension the estate is now embracing.
Looking beyond Belgium
While Chant d’Éole remains deeply rooted in its Belgian terroir, its vision is increasingly international. The estate aims to introduce audiences around the world to another side of Belgium: a country capable of producing outstanding wines, welcoming guests with elegance, creating remarkable gastronomic experiences and bringing tradition and innovation together.
Perhaps this is the true achievement of Chant d’Éole. To have transformed an ambitious entrepreneurial idea into a recognised estate, while preserving what lies at its heart: the land, the family, the work, the pursuit of excellence and the constant desire to go further.
In a world where the great names of wine are often associated with centuries-old vineyards and deeply established traditions, Chant d’Éole is writing a different kind of story.
A younger story. A bolder story. A profoundly Belgian story and now, an increasingly international story.
And if Chant d’Éole has become one of the ambassadors of Belgian wine, its ambition ultimately remains beautifully simple: to continue writing this story, bottle by bottle, encounter by encounter, and to show the world what a Belgian terroir can achieve when it is driven by vision, excellence and extraordinary entrepreneurial energy.
