Fanned by cooling sea breezes Algarve members welcomed fellow consœurs and confrères from all over Portugal for lunch on the shaded terrace of Restaurante Evaristo. This impressive white painted restaurant is situated on the edge of a small, secluded bay with white sands, picturesque rocks and beautiful views. It can trace its history back to humble beginnings in the mid-1980s.

Tables were set out with traditional olives, bread and tuna paste. Lunch started with delicious clams and squid prepared in the Evaristo style with a choice of white, red and rosé wine and water as an accompaniment. Grilled tiger prawns served with rice followed.

Renowned over the years for fresh fish from the grill, in keeping with the Evaristo tradition Chef Jorge Goncalves and his team had prepared, as catch of the day, a large grouper on the grill. This was the main course served with garlicky boiled potatoes and mixed salads.

Lunch was completed with an Evaristo dessert selection, fresh fruits, delicious local sweets and ice cream. Coffee or teas concluded the delights.

Bailli Marie-Anne Ferran thanked the kitchen and front of house teams and presented the restaurant with a memento of the Chaîne’s lunchtime visit to this beautiful place.
