A unique culinary experience
" Maarten Westerhof thanked the brigades for an excellent lunch "
A group of 28 participants enjoyed a four-course lunch at the Groene Lantaarn. Cindy Borger and Jarno Eggen moved with their restaurant from Zuidwolde to Staphorst earlier this year.
In Staphorst they bought a beautiful building with an old mill in the garden. Cindy knows how to create a cordial and casual atmosphere with her service. This soon resulted in a very pleasant afternoon.
After a reception with Champagne and mouth-watering appetizers, Jarno and his kitchen team created a rare lunch that looked like this:
Terrine of foie gras with liquorice and mandarin
Weingut Huff Huxelrebe Auslese 2018
Agnolotti al plin
with celeriac and porcini mushroom sauce
Domaine Mascart Chardonnay Reserve 2018
Beef and oxtail
with potato and white truffle
Côtes du Rhône Villages Visan‘Ciel étoilé’ 2017 (organic)
Domaine au 7ème Clos, Rhône Valley, France
French toast and vanilla ice cream
Weingut Kracher Spatlese Cuvee 2017
Each course was perfect in taste and accompanied by a wine carefully selected by Cindy.
With the coffee and delicious friandises we were also surprised by a trolley with a large assortment of homemade bonbons.
Jarno gave a tour of the mill that is currently being restored. He intends to grind grain himself in order to make his own bread for sandwiches for the restaurant.
Maarten Westerhof thanked the brigades for an excellent lunch and presented the well-known certificate of appreciation to Cindy.
Everyone went home having had a unique culinary experience.
