France - Laurent Poultier du Mesnil

Bailliage of France
Paris, March 13, 2020

Appointed Bailli Délégué of France
" grandson of one of the first members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs "

Laurent Poultier du Mesnil, grandson of one of the first members of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, is a communication expert.

A descendent of old vineyard-owning families from Bordeaux and Champagne, he was introduced to the joys of gastronomy by his parents at a very young age.

On completing his degree in History, History of Art and Sociology, he was hired by the wife of 3-Michelin-starred Parisian Chef, Alain Passard.

Known as one of the youngest municipal councillors in Île-de-France, he set up his first advertising agency in Paris, which he sold a few years later in 1998 when he moved to the Vendée (a region of Western France) and bought a historic building which he spent some fifteen years renovating. It was from this ancient, imposing château that he set up a cosmetics company and a new advertising agency, as well as the very first “French History Festival”.

Having established a solid base in this coastal region, in 2011 he followed in his grandparents’ footsteps and joined the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs as Chargé de Missions Provincial.

Tempted back to Paris by leading figures and important clients, Laurent joined the Bureau National de la Chaîne, as Chargé de Missions Communication, and moved to the Ile Saint-Louis.

Unable to escape his passion for gastronomy, he was put in charge of a radio show in which he presented a gastronomy feature with the CEO of Gault & Millau. In this show he interviewed many chefs and fine food artisans. At the end of 2018, he contributed to the creation of the “Food, Food Tech and Branding” MBA at the Institut Supérieur de Gestion, where he became the leading lecturer.

Closely involved in the Paris-Île-de-France Bailliage, in July 2018 he was put in charge of this historic Bailliage, a task to which his talents are perfectly suited. Relying on a dedicated team and with a convivial outlook, the new Bailli of Paris decided to introduce a series of evenings and get-togethers always based on unusual themes, bringing together culture and art thereby reminding everyone that gastronomy is an important art form.

At the beginning of 2020, he transformed and grew his company creating a new consultancy and training business.

Following on from the success of his Bailliage, at the end of 2018 he was invited to join the Bureau National as Chancelier of the Bailliage of France, and then in March 2020, after the resignation of Jean-François Guichard, our President Yam Atallah decided to appoint him Bailli Délégué of France.

The first thing Laurent did was reorganise the Bailliage of France, in order to develop a closer relationship with the Baillis Provinciaux and to put every member, each one a vital link in the Chaîne, at the heart of the Bailliage of France.

A partnership should help make it possible to produce the “magazine de La Chaîne France”, soon, as well as a directory promoting the Chaîne’s professionals. Lastly, keen to help these same professionals, who are going through a particularly difficult time, Laurent has just created a YouTube channel for the French Chaîne, which will offer an unusual opportunity to introduce one professional member of the Chaîne each week during this period of lockdown.
