Spain - Cava Jaume Giró i Giró

Bailliage of Spain
Sant Sadurní d'Anoia (Barcelona), June 25, 2020

Cava with its own personality
" appropriate for any occasion with good company "

Jaume Giró i Giró is one of the smallest and most historic cava producers in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. The estate has a long tradition of making cava - since 1926 in fact. Today it is managed by the family’s third generation who continue the search for the greatest expression of a terroir of exceptional capacity and variation, all the while protecting traditions.

Sant Sadurní d’Anoia in the Alto Penedés region, 45 km from Barcelona, is considered to be the capital of cava. The area’s vineyard cultivation dates from the 11th century.

Winemaker Ramón Giró i Gramona heads up Jaume Giró i Giró. During his tenure to date he has boosted both production and quality evidenced by recent awards and recognitions.

Conscious of his grandfather’s and father’s work developing the estate, Ramón says “We try to work with respect for individuality and freedom of ideas, maintaining independence from trends or fashions, promoting responsibility for the social and cultural environment. All this under the seal of sobriety, discretion and the greatest possible elegance. The Jaume Giró i Giró brand lives by these values and convictions day by day.”

Cava Jaume Giró i Giró produces sparkling wine using the bottle-fermented method originally discovered by monks in Champagne. The estate is known for leading research to improve work in both vineyard and winery.

An example of this being that Ramón Giró embarked on the path of acquiring an Ecological Certification which guaranteed that wines were made following organic agriculture rules. Also, that they have been controlled throughout their production, packaging and marketing.

It was a successful strategy as today the Jaume Giró i Giró is fully certified as producing a range of high-quality, organic and vegan wines and cavas, thus reflecting a long-lasting creative genius.

Customers worldwide adore the Jaume Giró i Giró bubbles. Exports are increasing yearly. The main market is Europe, the American market is developing and expansion on the African continent has begun.

In Spain, Jaume Giró i Giró deliver their cavas to individual buyers. Futhermore, Professionnel du Vin member of the Bailliage of Spain, Frank Thomas Merten (Count of Merten), distributes Jaume Giró i Giró Cavas through his company Ciudad Condal GMBH. So much so that he has a cava named in his honour!

Jaume Giró i Giró cavas are not only great for an aperitif or a toast, as are all sparkling wines, but they are also ideally suited to partner aperitifs or desserts whether at lunch or dinner. In fact, they are appropriate for any occasion with good company. But, naturally, remember to drink in moderation.
