Lunch on the beach
" The menu had been created based on the philosophy of this well-known family run restaurant paying homage to the sea and serving the freshest catch of the day "
Bailliage members and their guests met at the picturesque beach of Praias dos Caneiros, Ferragudo for their “lunch on the beach” July meeting.
Together with holidaymakers and beachgoers they enjoyed views of sparkling waters and cooling breezes whilst sampling a welcome drink and colourful tasty appetisers on the roof terrace of Rei das Praias Restaurant.
Lunch was served on the veranda - in accordance with the valid COVID-19 restrictions. The menu had been created based on the philosophy of this well-known family run restaurant paying homage to the sea and serving the freshest catch of the day. The printed menu gave nothing away as to which fish were to be served. Everything depended on what was caught out at sea in the hours before lunch.
However, all was soon to be revealed!
Service started with a selection of fish and shellfish starters: tuna tartare with mango, clams and a sweet potato crisp, clams, delicious soft calamari and shrimps.
The main course consisted of large robalo grilled with a selection of vegetables and potatoes. A refreshing white wine “Baron de B” 2018 partnered each course with the usual table waters. A selection of desserts and coffee brought the meal to a close.
In accordance with the relaxed, informal holiday atmosphere of the restaurant no formal speeches or presentations were made. Thanks from all participating was given to everyone involved with preparing and serving the lunch and helping to make it such a success.
