13,500 euro donated at a fund-raising summer party

June 11th was a very special day for those who attended the Bailliage’s fund-raising summer party and as a result of the exceptional level of donations it was special also for the “Chaîne Foundation Germany”.

Bailli Claas Plesch invited members and their guests to a memorable, yet unscheduled, lunchtime event at Landhaus Hadrys in Magdeburg where, since 2003, Sebastian Hadrys has been synonymous with sophisticated cuisine!

They were fed princely without having to pay a fee. Everyone was simply asked to make a donation to the “Chaîne Foundation Germany” according to their convictions and means. Some 60 participants contributed €10,000 to the benefit of the Foundation.

Owner, Vice-Conseiller Culinaire Sebastian Hadrys, and his team looked after the participants in the garden of the country house in bright sunshine. The delights started with a classic French caviar service accompanied by Champagne Pommery poured from two 12 litre bottles, known as Balthazars. Many cleverly chosen and excellently prepared small courses followed. All were enjoyed in a casual, relaxed atmosphere with many light-hearted conversations.

In the late afternoon, a raffle was held with two sensational main prizes:
- a voucher for two people to stay in a Junior Suite at the luxury Hotel Palace Berlin
- a voucher for two people for a revue in the Friedrichstadt-Palast theatre also in Berlin.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank in particular our Confrère Michael Frenzel, General Manager of the Hotel Palace, who was present in person, as well as Jana Schade and Markus Grell from Vranken-Pommery Germany who sponsored the vouchers for the Friedrichstadtpalast.

Not only did this raffle result in extremely happy winners, but also with a further €3,500 contribution in favour of Germany’s Chaine Foundation making a very creditable €13,500 for the day.

It was not until 8pm that the group of happy participants went their separate ways. They could look back on an extremely successful and culinary impressive summer day in favour of the important consideration of promoting young chefs and young sommeliers through the “Chaîne Foundation Germany”.
