At the Luisenburg in Fichtelgebirge
" Our special thanks went to Officier Maître Hôtelier Guido Schreiner, an active, very committed Chaîne member "
Every year in July and August, the Luisenburg natural stage, situated amidst huge blocks of granite, comes to life again. The festival can look back on a long, unique tradition. Since 1890, has been the oldest, and as many say, most beautiful theatre festival in Germany.
This year, our Bailliage invited members and friends to the hit musical Sister Act, based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg.
The captivating leading actress Zodwa Selele was selected for this leading role by Whoopi herself. Born in Kirchenlamitzer (Upper Franconia), Zodwa appeared at the festival for the second time after her great success in My Fair Lady in 2018.
Following two and a half hours of musical enchantment the audience thanked the performers with a standing ovation.
That was only the first part of a memorable afternoon. We were then warmly welcomed at the hotel entrance by the Schreiner family for dinner in our long-standing Chaîne establishment, Hotel Kaiseralm.
A refreshing forest fruit cocktail much enjoyed, we were led into the fireplace room with festively decorated tables. The menu was hand drawn by the artistically very talented Rôtisseur Stephanie Schreiner, who had been promoted to hotel manager only the previous week. This suggested culinary delicacies to come.
Indeed, we were completely won over by the amuse bouche, starter with tomato and chili parfait, main course of pancetta-coated beef fillet filled with truffle and pine nuts, and a dessert of mango parfait with chocolate sorbet.
After a few digestif “shorts” in a small, cosy group, the day ended harmoniously.
Our special thanks went to Officier Maître Hôtelier Guido Schreiner, an active, very committed Chaîne member for over 30 years, together with his wife, daughter Stephanie and their members of staff.
