At “Socrat”, an oriental restaurant despite its Greek name
" Oriental cuisine combined with a real passion for good food is enough to make anybody's mouth water "
The holidays are coming to an end and the Chaîne in Cameroon is getting back to “work”!
After our last meal at the “Pizzéria” on May 18th, this was our first event held in “Socrat”, a restaurant named after the Greek philosopher.
Despite its Greek name, it is more of an oriental restaurant, offering dishes that combine flavours from Africa, Lebanon and Europe and showcasing local ingredients. Festive, full of flavours and playing with similarities and differences, the fare on offer is an invitation to travel to the rhythm of cultural diversity.
Oriental cuisine combined with a real passion for good food is enough to make anybody’s mouth water. The Orient is all about mystery and discovery. The captivating, almost mystical atmosphere filters down onto the plates. Oriental cuisine is indeed unrivalled when it comes to tastes and flavours, from the sweet to the incredibly spicy.
In next to no time we were whisked away from Arabia to Lebanon and were dazzled by food taken to another level by ancestral techniques. The various aromas of oriental gastronomy, which shines upon the Arab world, took us on a journey through space and time, treating us to a new experience of unique flavours.
Our programme for the next six months will be incredibly rich and varied:
- An event at the Hilton Hotel to discover the talents of their new Executive Chef
- A Greek evening at our friend Kalli’s restaurant
- Celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau at the Hilton Hotel
- Discovering the cuisine served at “Le Lodge”.
The highpoint of our gastronomic adventures will be the opportunity to discover Tunisian cuisine, thanks to the initiative and assistance of His Excellency the Ambassador of Tunisia. I have no doubt that Her Excellency the Ambassador of Egypt will follow his example and introduce us to some Egyptian dishes created by her new Executive Chef.
