A successful debut for a young restaurateur
" Austrian cuisine is the focus with international and oriental surprises "
Maître Restaurateur Sayed Adel Salzer-Sadat, a new Chaîne member, invited the Bailliage Provincial of Vienna members and guests to lunch at his restaurant Hollerkoch which he has helmed since 2019.
Sayed did not just want to run a restaurant. He wanted to be the host at its very centre and go to work with love and passion. Basically, Austrian cuisine is the focus with international and oriental surprises.
We were welcomed with home brewed Hollerkoch Gin Fizz and Fräulein Rosé Sekt Döbling.
The lunch, personally presented by Maître Restaurateur Sayed, began with an excellent appetizer plate. Grilled goat cheese on baby leaf salad, balsamic honey dressing and fruits; homemade falafel with avocado, lime dressing; two kinds of homemade hummus; well-seasoned beef and avocado tartar with herbs accompanied by toasted farmer's bread. The accompanying real classic Pinot Grigio 2021 from Tramin, Italy was an excellent match.
Next course was burrata with basil cream and cherry tomatoes, another delicacy.
"Red Thai curry", in the right “heat” with shrimps and jasmine rice followed.
Main course of veal butter schnitzel, potato puree, red beets and roasted onion was served with Chardonnay 2021 from Markowitsch, Carnuntum, Burgenland.
The sweet finish: Hollerkoch doughnut threesome, homemade with yoghurt-pot cream, and Hollerkoch tiramisu with fresh strawberries and cheesecake. The diners’ sweet teeth certainly had their money's worth!
Bailli Provincial Hannes Sailer and Conseiller Culinaire Provincial Roman Keller thanked Maître Restaurateur Sayed Adel Salzer-Sadat with his kitchen and service staff for this excellent menu. Bailliage of Austria commemorative plates were presented in appreciation.
The lunch was a successful debut for the young restaurateur. We are looking forward to further events at Hollerkoch.
Vive la Chaîne!
