Bailli of Trondheim, Roar Hildonen, owner of the restaurant “To Rom og Kjøkken” (Two Rooms and a Kitchen) in Trondheim, has won the distinction of being Norway’s “Restaurateur of the Year” for 2016.

At a special ceremony on Friday, March 11th, the award was presented to Roar by Truls E.J. Engstrøm, Head of “Norsk Hotellhøgskole” at the University of Stavanger, and Terje Hansen, Chairman of the Board of “NHO Reiseliv”.

Norway’s “Restaurateur of the Year” accolade was first awarded in 2006. This year some 30 restaurants and their owners were nominated. These were then narrowed down to a shortlist of 3 finalists. The selection criteria included offering an excellent culinary experience, customer satisfaction, ethical and socially responsible management.
