Celebrating 50 years in style
" The event was a resounding success, with members from 17 different countries joining the festivities "
The National Bailliage of Portugal celebrated its 50th Anniversary Grand Chapitre in Lisbon from February 17th to February 19th, 2023.
The event was a resounding success, with members from 17 different countries joining the festivities. Amongst the guests were President Yam Atallah and International Vice-President Marie Jones. The President led the Induction Ceremony during which many new members were welcomed into the Confrérie with many others promoted or rewarded.
The Bailliage took the opportunity to showcase the best of Portuguese gastronomy, wines, and exceptional hospitality throughout the event. The dinners were held at iconic locations in Lisbon, such as Pousada de Lisboa and the Pestana Palace Hotel, providing guests with a glimpse into the city's rich history and culture.
The event also included two lunches at Solar dos Presuntos and Manja Marvila, where members had further opportunities to try traditional, authentic Portuguese food.
Members especially enjoyed the experience at Manja Marvilla, where a few of the Chaîne Portugal chefs prepared a delicious spread in the kitchen studio with members observing the action.
Other activities included tours of Jerónimos Monastery and a guided visit of downtown Lisbon.
The Bailliage would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the Grand Chapitre. The event would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of all those involved.
A special ‘thank you’ went to the National Board who put the event together, specifically Bailli Délégué Paulo Amado, Chancelier Fátima Marcos and Richard Roestorf, Bailli of Greater Lisbon 2.
We look forward to welcoming members back to Portugal soon.
Vive la Chaîne!
