At Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa

For this first event of the year, members and their guests gathered in the elegant Restaurant La Caravelle at the Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa.

Located on the edge of a beautiful strip of pure white sand beach, the restaurant truly felt like an extension of the sea and what it represents: wonder, travel, and escape.

On the wide deck bathed in the golden lights of the restaurant, the participants sipped refreshing Champagne - a sharp contrast to the warm evening. As one gazed across the glittering whites and blues of the sea juxtaposed with the darkening auburns of the sky, one could almost imagine being ensconced in a vessel gliding across the water.

In many ways, not far from the truth as the pearl that’s the Trou aux Biches Beachcomber Resort took us on a culinary journey. Colourful dishes and diversity of flavours at ‘La Caravelle’ captured the multicultural heritage of Mauritius including Indian, Chinese, and Western influences. The exotic chic atmosphere offered the perfect setting for an escape into the tropics.

The rich timbre of the singers’ voices with instruments’ mellow harmony enchanted guests as they relished a variety of hot and cold canapés. Hardly a lull in the conversation during the entire evening emphasising the true sense of camaraderie reigning in the Chaîne.

Dinner started with a true showstopper and ended with decadence. In between, gastronomic experiences abounded highlighted by the main course “pièce de resistance”.

Imagine vibrant greens reflecting Mauritius’ lush flora; ravioli’s hidden heart; indulgent beef dish; luxuriously rich cold chocolate with melting centre. Excitement and liveliness as frozen chocolate covered with nuts was hammered into shards in front of us. And the perfectly chosen wines were exceptional.

To remember that night without feeling a true sense of togetherness and joy is impossible as ‘fondest memories are made when gathered around the table’.
