Aboard the Tokyo Bay Cruise Ship 'Symphony'
" Dinner consisted of special dishes for the Chaîne .. Something heart-shaped was scattered on each plate, reminding everyone of the evening's purpose "
The World Chaîne Day event for the Bailliage Provincial of Kanto was held aboard the Tokyo Bay cruise ship “Symphony”.
This year's theme was “Come With Your Heart”. Accordingly, the dress code was to wear or bring something with a heart pattern. Everyone arrived with hearts hidden in and on ties, shirts, accessories and bags, showcasing individual sense of style.
After boarding, an aperitif was served on the top deck. Champagne was opened with a ‘sabrage’ ceremony. A moving toast was made. The cruise began with a view of the night scenery of Tokyo Bay, including the Rainbow Bridge. The Symphony followed an original, heart-shaped route around Tokyo Bay. A perfect tribute to the day's theme.
Dinner consisted of special dishes for the Chaîne created by Mr. Masanobu Kohama, Executive Chef of the Symphony. Something heart-shaped was scattered on each plate, reminding everyone of the evening’s purpose.
In addition, Mr. Nobuhiko Fukuda, Conseiller Culinaire of the National Bailliage and Executive Chef of the Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel, made a surprise appearance. He assisted with the lamb main course and provided a carving service that delighted everyone.
We also enjoyed a 6-litre ‘Methuselah’ of Chablis Grand Cru 2018, with the hope that open hearts could help lead to world peace.
This year's event also marked the 15th anniversary of the founding of ACCR (Association Caritative de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs), the Chaîne’s international charitable organisation. Many people who supported this project made donations and received commemorative heart badges.
Vive la Chaîne!
