Wonderful celebration in Bad Elster
" Led by Bailli Günter Anton, a big thank you went to the whole team for the great performance. Everyone was certainly there with their hearts! "
“Come with your heart” was the motto of this year's World Chaîne Day. Those who enjoy the Chaîne accepted the invitation of our confrère Horst-Jürgen Engel to the enchanting Waldquelle. This historical gem is in beautiful Vogtland, more precisely, in Bad Elster, a spa town in this part of Saxony.
With the support of Yannick Demange, a menu was created that already inspired the taste buds. Everything was well thought out, of high quality and skilfully arranged.
We enjoyed
- fish terrine with saffron vinaigrette
- foie gras with star anise
- grilled monkfish with basil and mint infusion
- or pigeon pie with Port wine jus.
Horst-Jürgen has mastered the great art of matching the right wine. For example, a Champagne from André Roger was chosen to start. It was followed by Morgentau Rosé from the Kaiserstuhl (served from magnums). A double magnum of a 2018 cuvée from Karl Friedrich Aust was a real treat. Another rarity soon followed: a Jeroboam of 2016 Niepoort Fabulous Douro, once decanted it made for a full-bodied experience. Perfect with dessert was Weingut Frey Chardonnay Riesling Eiswein 2012 served from a magnum!
A true fireworks display of rarities. And if that wasn't enough, singer Susanne Petzold surprised us with songs suitable for World Chaîne Day. The evening ended with an interpretation of Hildegard Knef's “For me it should rain red roses”.
Led by Bailli Günter Anton, a big thank you went to the whole team for the great performance. Everyone was certainly there with their hearts!
