Federico Michieletto is Executive Chef of the well-known 5-star EQ Kuala Lumpur named by Travel + Leisure Asia as “Number One City Hotel in Malaysia” for 2023. Federico has been a Chaîne member for more than 20 years.

His passion for innovation inspires him to create new style interpretations of classic cuisine appealing to contemporary dining. Federico is an author of several books, including “Pasta from My Italy” which won a 2007 Best in the World Gourmand Award for Italian Cuisine.

Federico’s philosophy is to push boundaries by adding ingredients from other cultures to traditional recipes but remembering original flavours which, when combined with modern cooking techniques, create today’s avant-garde dining experiences.

From Mogliano in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, Federico graduated from the Italian Culinary of Art Institute of Castel Franco Veneto in 1989. His career began at the Hotel Villa Stucky in his hometown of Mogliano. Since then, he has been an Associate Chef Professor leading a faculty of culinary art, as well as being an Executive Chef with restaurants and hotels in Europe and Asia. He served as President of the Chefs Association of Malaysia from 2007 to 2011.

Federico is a former President of Bocuse d’Or Malaysia, including being on the Jury of Bocuse d’Or France Lyon 2009. A WorldChefs Certified Continental Judge he has judged many chef competitions internationally.

As far as awards are concerned, Federico has won many including the HAPA Awards Malaysia Series, an esteemed recognition celebrating excellence in the hospitality industry. He is also a TV celebrity with his own programme in Malaysia.
