Bailli Adele Rugg together with Maui members and their guests gathered at The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea. The occasion was a triple celebration: the induction of new members; the promotion of Brian Moto to Chargé de Presse Provincial of Hawaii/Pacific; our guest winemaker Paul Hobbs of Paul Hobbs Winery, Sebastopol, California.

The menu featured Chef Ryan Cruz’s talents. His career includes assignments in London, New York, and Los Angeles. Certified Sommelier Brian Clancy of RNDC The Estates Group and guest Sommelier Taro Kurobe, a Jeunes Sommeliers Competition national finalist, coordinated the wine service.

Paul Hobbs Winery provided the wine pairings for the five-course tasting menu. During dinner Paul discussed the origins and history of the winery explaining its approach to grape cultivation and winemaking.
