Minimalism meets tropical design
" encapsulates the essence of relaxed island living "
The newly renovated LUX* Belle Mare stands proudly on the east coast of the island of Mauritius. A spirited, forward-thinking resort, the LUX* Belle Mare is where minimal and tropical come together magically for an extraordinary holiday. There’s the iconic postcard beach, the striking design in shades of sand white, coral and greens, a wild variety of dining experiences and mindful wellness. The spirit of tropical island living permeates throughout calling travellers of all ages to live “Life Extraordinary”.
Arched pergolas border the edge of the conservatory. Lush greenery coils around ivory lattices and the whites, yellow and greens of the décor further enhance the theme of minimalism with a tropical touch. The picturesque setting of the atrium seems to emerge from a fairytale.
In October 2023 the doors officially reopened unveiling a reimagined resort with a striking new design by renowned Mauritian architect Jean-Francois Adam, whilst retaining its celebrated family ethos.
The elevated interiors conceived by internationally acclaimed Mauritian designer Jean-Marc Tang, reveal a contemporary feel and style, taking cues from the resort surroundings of lush greenery and sweeping ocean views.
LUX* Belle Mare encapsulates the essence of relaxed island living, where minimalism meets tropical design enhanced by greenery. It all comes together at LUX* Belle Mare.
Chaîne members connected with the resort are General Manager, Gerhard Hecker and Jean-Claude Béga who is Chairman of Lux Island Resorts, the owners of LUX* Belle Mare. [Ed. Separate articles on these members will be published in due course.]
On November 24, 2023, it was a delight for the Bailliage of Mauritius to stage its annual Chapitre, the most important event of the year, in such a luxurious environment. The gossamer of silks and laces of flowing gowns as well as the finesse of the apéritif added to the romance permeating the air.
The culinary odyssey that was the Gala Dinner was held in ‘Amari by Vineet’, the restaurant and namesake of Michelin-starred Chef Vineet Bhatia. The doors to the restaurant hid an Indian gem with blush tones graced with clay pots along the shelves and meandering oriental murals on the walls.
With thanks to the Chaîne team in Mauritius for their inspiration for this article and their contribution to it.
