For generations, summer visitors from Vienna spent wonderful and relaxing hours in Neustift am Walde, which was incorporated into Vienna in 1892, many of them at Schreiberhaus. In 1989, following old plans and with great attention to detail, this heritage-protected house was lovingly restored, revitalized and reopened by Leopold Huber as today’s “Das Schreiberhaus”.

Das Schreiberhaus is a historic landmark on a well-known street. It was once the winegrower’s house of the Schreiber family (hence the name), as well as a judge's residence and a doctor's practice. Leopold Schreiber was a vintner, farmer, and organist at the Neustift parish church.

During the wartime days of 1945, when public water supply systems had collapsed due to bombings, the well in its courtyard provided drinking water to many residents of Neustift and Salmannsdorf. Definitely a piece of history. What’s more the establishment holds one of Austria’s largest corkscrew collections.

Stephanie Huber-Jordan. Officer Maître Restaurateur, and her father Leopold, continue the family’s 200-year-old Heurigen tradition with pride especially in their wine making. They take great satisfaction in their establishment and look forward to welcome you.
